Ivana Gagula Interview eMiss Earth

Which of the elements (Fire, Water, Air, Earth) suits best to your character and why?

I am a person that stands with both of my feet on the ground. I also have a big ambition for my future life that I live today. I do whatever I can to make each day better than the next with things that please people around me. I care a lot for other human beings and the very earth that we live on, and do so by daily changing for the better. I have been taut from an early age to respect the earth that we all live in. The element that I think suits best with my personality is, Earth!

How important for you the beauty pageants are? How much time do you spend for preparations? Do you consider the contests as an adventure, fun, or as a chance for fame?

Beauty pageants like this one that’s have an ambition of saving the environment is really meaningful to me. It contributes to a good cause and it is a good way to reach people and hopefully make some people change the way they view the world for the better.
For three years, now and on, I’ve been working at a retirement place. It can at times be very hard work, but a work that is meaningful. The very knowledge of me being able to help others gives me a lot of energy to carry on. In my spare time I try to keep myself updated with whatever is going on in the world. I am already excited about the Philippines. I’ve heard so much about them and their food. I will even have the opportunity to meet people I otherwise would have never met in my entire life. This will be a real adventure for me and I will remember this time forever I am sure. I will do my very best to take home the crown for my beautiful country, Sweden.

Which ethical values, that seem to disappear in the modern world, are the most important for you?

The well being of every human on our planet seem to me to be forgotten; human egoism has taken over our generosity throw out other.

What do you think about your chances in Miss Earth 2007 contest? Do you think you would be a good Miss Earth?

I have realised that this is a big chance for me to make people listen to what I have to say and in turn maybe inspire to the better. I am also opened to listen to others and with them make changes. I love to travel and meet new interesting people and thus ready for the upcoming challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. I think I would be a great Miss Earth. There are obviously many other amazing girls this year that also deserves the title as Miss Earth. I say, may the best women win! I hope that the person that wins is interested in the environment and eager to inspire for change.

As we know, the Miss Earth contest propagates ecological way of living. How is the nature - the symbol of life and development - important for you?

We have a wonderful world with an amazing array of countries and a beautiful nature to take care of them. Every country I’ve visited have amazed me in every conservable way. We have been blest with a world full of opportunities. We have all heard devastating facts about what is perceived to happen in the future and I think that it is important to stop for just a minute and listen to what nature is saying, so that we won’t have to tell our children and grandchildren one day, that the world look like it does because of our own inhumanity toward man and nature. Life is in my book worth fighting for.

Thank you so much for this opportunity. The questions where great and I will do my best in the Philippines for Sweden and also my former home country Croatia.
